Class Information

Interested in taking classes? I currently teach on Sunday evenings in central Austin so you can learn to unleash that inner goddess! I'm also available for private lessons or group workshops (ladies only) if you're just wanting to try things out. Contact me at najladances AT gmail DOT com for more information.

Tarrytown Dance (Windsor and Exposition) Both levels of class are structured in a similar fashion. Classes are 1.5 hours each and include 30 minutes of drills/warm ups/shimmies/strengthening exercises, 15 minutes of stretching, and 45 minutes of technique and combinations. The class rate for each is $15 drop-in, or $12 a class if you pay for more than one at a time. Topics rotate every 6-8 weeks, but the focus of each class is building a strong, dynamic dance foundation (but we throw in fun stuff as well!).

  • Beginner Belly Dance, Sunday evenings 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This class is perfect for dancers just starting out, as well as ones who want to focus on developing clean technique. This spring, dancers will be learning a short choreography.

  • Intermediate Belly Dance, Sunday evenings 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Students learn choreographies as a way to practice the technique and skills learned in class. Intermediate students also have the opportunity to practice improvisational skills, work on solo performances and perform with my student troupe, Baharat. This spring, we'll be exploring Debke, which is a Middle Eastern line dance of sorts. It's very high energy and lots of fun!
